| The Star of India restaurant in Leytonstone High Road was named as Waltham Forest’s Restaurant of the Year 2005 in a contest run by the Pride in Waltham Forest campaign. |

Readers of wfm and the Waltham Forest Guardian were asked to nominate their favourite local eating house. Readers were then invited to vote from the list of 40 nominees and a judging panel made anonymous visits to those with the most votes. The judges decided on the winner using criteria such as the quality of food and service and value for money. |

The judges’ report on the Star of India read: “This restaurant offers great value for money. It has a nice, calm atmosphere and a great menu range, including a good vegetarian choice.
“We got good sized portions and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We were able to enjoy our meal at a good pace without being rushed and the food was left on the table until we requested it to be cleared.” |
