About Us
The restaurant was officially opened in July 1978 by Alhaj Mohammed Shah Boshir Uddin Ahmed, Founder and Head Chef.
It was he who turned 875 High Road into what we recognise today as the Star of India, Leytonstone, London.
This was the his first business venture outside Bangladesh, which he left after completing his secondary education.
When he first arrived here in the UK, with his father, he started work in a fruit factory.
Soon he was employed in a restaurant in the West End of London and this is where his career as a chef really started.
After recognition as a leading chef he was then employed by a maternal uncle who owned an Indian restaurant in Kent.
His next move was to a restaurant in the East End of London.
The life's challenge materialised and he became Founder and Chef-Proprietor of one of the most recognised and successful East London restaurants in the modern times.
Before retiring he has passed on all his secrets and innovations to his son who is the Executive Chef-Manager of today. |
